Stéphane Brabant

Stéphane Brabant is a Paris-based partner of global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills. He is the co-Chair of the firm’s Africa practice and co-head of the CSR group.

Stéphane has over 28 years of experience as a projects and transactional lawyer in Africa and other emerging markets, primarily in the energy, natural resource, infrastructure and agribusiness sectors. As well as advising on the structuring of complex investments between multinationals and States, Stéphane also advises on crisis prevention and management, compliance, anti-corruption and business and human rights issues. He is also advising in international trade, hotels resorts including eco-tourism.

Stéphane has been consistently ranked in the top tier by the leading legal directories for his expertise in relation to Africa and is the only lawyer singled out as a “Senior Statesman” for Africa-wide Projects and Energy by Chambers Global 2017 and 2018. He is also ranked by Chambers Global as a leading lawyer for Business and Human Rights.
